La mwcwKander (in mwdasvizzero tedesco mwdqChander) è un mwdgfiume dell'mwdwOberland Bernese nel mweaCanton Berna in mweqSvizzera.

È lungo circa 47 km e ha un bacino imbrifero di 1094 km². Con una portata d'acqua media di quasi 43 m³/s, è il secondo affluente di sinistra dell'mwewAar. Il nome Kander deriva dalla radice preromanica (mwfaceltica) mwfqkando con il significato di mwfgbianco.

Percorso

Nasce dal ghiacciaio del Kander situato ai piedi del mwgwBlümlisalp all'altezza di circa 2.300mwha m. Scorre dapprima nella Gasterntal e poi nella mwhqKandertal. Dopo aver attraversato mwhgKandersteg e mwhwFrutigen la valle percorsa dal fiume viene chiamata Frutigtal. Nei pressi di mwiqWimmis riceve le acque della mwigSimme.

La Kander si getta nel mwjaLago di Thun all'altezza di 559mwjq m tra Gwatt (comune di mwjwThun) e mwkaEinigen (comune di mwkqSpiez). Il corso del fiume interessa i comuni di mwkgKandersteg, mwkwKandergrund, mwlaFrutigen, mwlqReichenbach im Kandertal, mwlgAeschi bei Spiez, mwlwWimmis, mwmaSpiez, mwmqReutigen e mwmgThun.cite-ref-2[2]
